Just 15 minutes from Ella, is a luxury British Style former Tea Planter’s Bungalow perched high above the Historic Demodara Railway Station. The Bungalow is now an elegant 5-bedroom luxury boutique villa with tastefully decorated Victorian rooms. The bungalow can be accessed easily from Demodara town and it is only a 4.5-hour drive via the southern express way from Colombo.
Nine Skies is all about that ‘calm and serenity’ with unparallel views of the Sri Lankan Hill Country. Have you ever wanted time off in peace and quiet without the hustle and bustle of the city? Then Nine Skies is the place for you! Dating back to the colonial era, the bungalow epitomises its legacy yet indulges discerning guests with contemporary facilities and high-end personalised service.
The room we stayed at was called ‘Welimada’, which was spacious and quite relaxing. The interior was modern with a touch of quintessential British elegance. The bathroom was all white, spacious and squeaky clean with a bath as well as a rain shower. Our room opened on to the beautifully manicured garden and we loved sitting outside our room after meals having a cup of Ceylon tea and a good book to read.
We received a warm welcome at the bungalow on the day of our arrival. The entire team including the Manager at Nine Skies were friendly and extremely attentive to all our needs.
Breakfast was our favorite meal as this was served outside on the patio. The breakfast spread was more than we could ask for! It was a real breakfast of champions with juice, tea/latte, bacon and sausages, eggs on toast with hollandaise sauce, homemade marmalade, fruit platter, granola bowls and a cup of hot chocolate to finish with. You will be all fueled up for some hikes/strolls after this!

On both days we stayed at the bungalow we had Sri Lankan rice and curry for lunch because it was so delicious!!!! We kept asking for more curries every day and afterwards our tummies were so full we couldn’t even walk to our room. No kidding. That’s how good it was!
In the eye pleasing gardens, the shimmering infinity pool has jaw dropping views across the valley and the famous Demodara Loop.
